8/1/12 Montreal

We took the ferry Wednesday morning from our campground that is in Longueil just across the river from Montreal.  It dropped us off in Old Montreal.  It was spectacular.  We felt just like we were in France.  Narrow streets, with little shops along them.  We had lunch on the patio and listened to a guy sing.  It was cool.  We also visited the most beautiful church (Notre Dame Basilique) we have ever seen.  We took the ferry back to the motorhome and had supper.  That evening there was a fireworks display over the river.  It was awesome.  This morning we took a drive out to the city Dorval on the outskirts of Montreal.  Dorval is the last name of my Grandfather who was raised in a convent in Montreal.  After that we toured a huge church (L'Oratoire Saint-Joseph Du Mont-Royal) with gardens all around it.  It was impressive but not as elaborate as the one in old Montreal.  Tomorrow on to Quebec.
