RussLeona Trip 10/4/12 Trip to Vermont

It took us an hour to get out of New York as the traffic was terrible and we got lost.  We asked for directions and quickly were able to get back on the freeway.  We were amazed at how friendly the people were in New York.  We never did feel threatened. We enjoyed our stay.  However it felt really good to get to Vermont.  Much more like home.  Our drive was beautiful.  Upstate New York is very pretty and so different from New York City.  We arrived at Zecher's.  They have a beautiful home.  Janie served us a wonderful dinner.  The next morning we went for a drive.  The leaves are really turning and so beautiful, however it was raining and cloudy so our photos aren't as good as they could be.  We looked at some quarries and toured the Marble Museum.  It was real interesting.  Some of the marble in Washington D.C. came from Vermont like the Supreme Court building.  We had a wonderful dinner at a local restaurant.  This morning we ran into Manchester Center to MacDonalds for internet access.  It is foggy and rainy so were are going to relax, play cards and do laundry.  Tomorrow the forecast is for sunshine so hopefully we can get some better pictures.

Colorful Upstate New York, through our broken windshield.

An example of the leaves.

More colorful leaves.
One of the marble quarries.  It is 90 feet deep and the cranes and equipment still lie in the bottom after the effects of a hurricane filled it with water.

A beautiful marble bridge.
